— MCP for ChatGPT

Turn ChatGPT into your Gitpage editor.

GitPage runs the same hosted MCP server for ChatGPT as it does for Claude. Add it as a Developer-mode custom connector and list, read, edit, and publish straight from a chat. Full editing needs a Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan — Pro connects read-only.

Using Claude instead? See the Claude setup guide →
1

Enable Developer mode

On ChatGPT web, an admin/owner turns on Developer mode. Enterprise/Edu: Settings → Apps → Advanced Settings (after access is granted via Permissions & Roles). Business: Workspace Settings → Apps → Create.

2

Create a custom connector

Go to Apps → Create, name it GitPage, choose OAuth authentication, and paste the server URL below. Click Scan Tools.

3

Authorize and use

Complete the OAuth prompt with your GitPage account and approve. Then ask ChatGPT to list your sites. On Business/Enterprise/Edu, write actions (edit, publish) prompt for confirmation each time.

What you need to connect

ChatGPT's custom-connector support is newer and more gated than Claude's. Here's the short list before you start.

Plan

Business, Enterprise, or Edu for editing

Full MCP support — including write/modify actions — is in beta on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Edu. Pro can connect read-only. Plus and Free cannot add custom MCP connectors.

Platform

ChatGPT on the web

Custom MCP connectors run on ChatGPT web only. They are not available in the mobile apps. The desktop app wraps the web experience but is not separately guaranteed.

Developer mode

Enabled by a workspace admin

Developer mode is admin-gated. On Business only admins/owners can enable it; on Enterprise/Edu an admin grants access (RBAC) and the member then toggles it in Settings → Apps → Advanced Settings.

Account

A GitPage account

You sign in with your existing GitPage account through OAuth during connector setup — no API key to manage. The same sharing rules as the dashboard apply.

What each plan can do

GitPage exposes identical tools to everyone — ChatGPT's plan tier decides which ones you can actually call.

ChatGPT planConnectList & readEdit & publish
Business / Enterprise / Edu
Full access (beta)
List, read, edit, draft, and publish — full parity with Claude. Write actions require confirmation; admins gate access and can restrict individual actions via RBAC.
Pro
Read-only
Can connect and list/read/search sites via Developer mode, but cannot edit, draft, or publish — OpenAI limits Pro connectors to read/fetch.
Plus / Free
Not supported
Custom MCP connectors are not available on these plans today. Use a Claude client instead, or upgrade to Business/Enterprise/Edu for full editing.

Availability reflects OpenAI's Developer-mode / full-MCP beta and may change as they iterate.

Common questions

Bring your sites into ChatGPT

On Business, Enterprise, or Edu you get the full editor. On Pro, connect read-only. Either way it's the same one URL and an OAuth sign-in.
